It is Deanna’s son, Christian Keanu Palacio, who is in need of cancer treatment. Deanna, her husband, Anthony, and Christian lived with us in Hawaii off and on during Christian’s younger years. They moved to TX for a short time when Christian was a baby, then moved back to HI.
When Christian was about six, his dad enlisted in the Army and was stationed in GA. Soon after, the Army deployed Anthony to fight in Afghanistan. Upon Anthony’s return from his deployment, the Army stationed the family in HI. Christian was about nine or ten.
While in HI, Christian learned to play the ukulele in school and for a brief time took classes at Roy Sakuma’s studio. He picked it up easily and was quite good. My husband, Kevin began teaching Christian to play the guitar and soon Christian began to sing and write songs!
When Christian was about 12, the Army relocated his family to WA. After two or three years, Anthony was medically discharged from the Army. Due to the high cost of living in HI, the family continues to live WA to this day. It is Christian’s hope after he graduates high school in May 2022, to work towards an associate’s degree in fire science and become a first responder.
Christian loves HI and longs to return. He has special memories growing up here.
